I got slimed

Chase has been starting to take baths like a "cool kid", leaning over to the side instead of laying back.  I literally can't get him to just lay back to save my life.  It makes hair washing rather tricky, and more than once he's gotten a face full of water and given me looks as if I'd just tried to drown him, but he still won't just sit back.  Silly child.  But he really does love bath time.  Especially this new turtle thermometer.  Not just useful so that I don't burn his butt anymore - that is his absolute new favorite bath toy.

This is how he always sits, with one arm hooked around the side of the tub, and then he reaches for stuff with the other.  And usually while he's reaching he slides ever so slowly down until he's just hanging in there with the one arm.  I have to sit him up probably every 45 seconds so he doesn't completely go underwater.  Loves making his mommy paranoid, this one!

Being the cunning mother that I am, I have been trying to hide cheerios in his food and let them soak until they get mushy, then break them up into bits and feed them to him with his apples or green beans, or whatever.  Basically trying to get him used to having a little texture to his food.  He, however, is just not having it.  He gags and makes faces, and sometimes, all too often, he just plain pukes.  All over the place.  Today it was bright green and boy did it smell like peas.  I won't be eating them anytime soon.  And of course, it was right after bathtime.  Bright idea, mom!

I applied for several in (my) home childcare positions today, so hoping one of those will pan out.  I would love to give him some socialization, since he isn't in daycare or anything and never sees any other kids.  We are also now eyeballing houses, if we can find one for roughly the same that we already pay for rent now.  Probably won't find anything, but it can't hurt to look.  I also applied to HCC today, and hope to start the medical billing and coding program this summer.  Nate is also looking, but hasn't figured out what to do yet.  Sometimes I just feel like a lost piece of dandelion fluff floating around in the wind.  Hopefully something works out soon and makes me feel a little more stable.  In the meantime, Chase is my tie-to-earth.  Such a sweet and wonderful boy :)
