Allergies

Turns out babies can be allergic to fresh foods, even if they aren't allergic to them in pre-packaged food.  Who knew!  So, one emergency visit to the doctor and a large bottle of amoxicillin later, we are home with a very cranky, feverish, rashy baby.  He didn't really stop fussing for more than about 3 minutes at a time, so not much picture-wise to choose from today.  Snapped a few while he was relatively calm.  He's now cut back to just formula and rice cereal for a few days, and introduce the fresh foods one at a time all over again.

On an upside - we now know that he is 20lbs 5oz and 27" long.  And he's getting one of his molars in the right bottom side of his mouth.  Poor baby can't get a break!  Thank god for Tylenol!

So good!

You know your food is good when it ends up everywhere... including your eyebrows!

Gates

Chase is everywhere at once now, so we've had to start putting up babygates to keep him in/out of certain areas.  He's not quite sure what to think of them yet... I'm sure he'll start disliking them soon!

Lookin good!

It was kinda chilly here today, so I took the opportunity to put Chase in his cute little sweatervest outfit from Aunt Manda.  He was so cute!  Every time I think he can't get any cuter, he goes and proves me wrong :)

His new friend Bobby came over for a few hours this evening too.  Chase was so excited to see him again that he wouldn't stop grabbing the poor child's feet.

Blueberry boy

Chase is starting to get a little more adventurous with his crawling.  Today I sat him down on the floor in his room with some toys, and then left the room for a few minutes to get a load of laundry together.  A few minutes later I turned around, and he had found his way all the way into our bedroom.  I had a cute little shadow!  He's also pulling himself up more on different things.  Today he found the little end table with the stack of dvd folders on it.  How exciting!

I also finally got around to making him his food today.  I've sworn up and down since he was born that I would make him his purees fresh instead of buying pre-packaged fruit and veggies, but Gerber is just too tempting sometimes!  But now that I've done it once, I'm amazed at how fast it was.  And easy!  No more Gerber for this baby! (Except road trips, maybe :P).  He LOVED the blueberries.  Lord, did he ever.  I barely took the spoon out of his mouth and he was already opening for the next bite :)  I think we found a favorite food!

New friend

Today Chase spent the day with Daddy while I cleaned house in Jackson, and went to the dentist.  When he got home this afternoon, he had a new friend waiting for him!  We babysat a 5 month old (Bobby) and his 9 year old brother (Bruce) today for a couple of hours.

He had some jealousy issues while I sat on the floor giving Bobby his bottle.  Chase kept trying to climb up into my lap too, and criedcriedcried.  Poor baby!  Had to give him extra loves when Bobby left :)  But, in the meantime, we distracted him with some gerber puffs and his sippy cup lol.

And in happier news, his 2nd front tooth started cutting through this morning :)  Once that one is in, he'll have all 4 front teeth!  Awesome!

Sleep addict

This child is starting to worry me a little.  He sleeps at least 3/4 of the day right now.  I keep telling myself it's just the teething thing.  And hopefully it is!  It's only been a little shy of a week that it's been like that, so I'm not going to let it get too worrying yet.

We didn't do much today.  Went to the Y this morning.  He apparently had a great time again :)  Mostly spent the day at home with him napping, only waking up for food and more tylenol lol.  But tonight his daddy gave him a bath, for what I'm 99.9% sure is the first time since we left Wyoming like 6 months ago!  He had a blast.  So much more exciting than boring, usual old mommy.

Rockin his fauxhawk again!

Socializing

Today was Chase's first morning at the Y daycare.  He apparently had a great time playing while Nate and I swam laps.  He fell asleep about 10 minutes before we went back to get him, so he was playing and making friends for about an hour in total.  He's such a sweet boy!

This afternoon he slept a lot.  Teething is really wearing him out.  I'm pretty sure he sleeps more than he's awake right now.  But when he was up, he spent most of his time trying to climb my leg, climb up into my lap, and also trying to gnaw on my knee.  Silly boy.

He's also getting so good at feeding himself his puffs.  I think sometime in the next week or two I'll try Cheerios again and see what happens!

Beaver baby

This is what I walked into this afternoon.  He has started pulling himself up and gnawing on his crib boards.  His top tooth finally came through today, but he's still chewing on everything in sight.  He literally gnawed the top coat of laquer/paint/whatever that is off the wood.  It was plastered all over his face when I went in to get him after his nap.

We tried banana slices today, but aside from licking them and smushing the whole plate into his face, he wasn't really interested.

He has also found his toy box... that means mess!

Baseball and bathtime!

Today was a loooong day for the little man!  We started out with Granddad's baseball game, where he got to see Granddad, Nana, and Aunt Amy.  He even got to play on the side of the baseball field for a few minutes - 2nd time seeing grass, and still just as interesting as the first time :)  After baseball we went to the Y and signed up for a membership.  Chase laughed up and down the hallways like a maniac.  Apparently he liked the colored stripes on the floors!  We'll have to sign him up for swimming lessons when he's a little bigger too.  Can't wait!

Tonight he also had his very first big boy bath.  He splashed water all over everything, and had a great time.  Such a cutie!
